The proponent of the Queensland-Hunter Gas Pipeline (HGP) will explore plans to upgrade the pipeline to enable it to carry large volumes of hydrogen. Key points:The Hunter Gas Pipeline was approved back in 2009, but is yet to move out of the planning stageThe project has faced landholder oppositionHydrogen plans…

UNDP Resident Representative in China Beate Trankmann delivers opening remarks. (Source: UNDP) An energy conference devoted to hydrogen technologies and low-carbon strategies kicked off in the southern Chinese city of Foshan on Wednesday with policymakers, industry insiders and scholars sharing their insights into a green future powered by the potentially clean…

The solar wind, comprised of solar particles largely made of hydrogen ions, created water on the surface of dust grains carried on asteroids that smashed into the early Earth, according to a paper published in the journal Nature Astronomy. Daly et al. used atom probe tomography to directly observe an…

A few weeks ago, I argued that battery-electric vehicles are greener than fossil fuel or hydrogen where well-to-wheel emissions are concerned. But that is only part of the story, and many argue that, once you take battery production into account, BEVs don’t look so green. That’s not true, though. This…

The limited reservoir of fossils fuels and the ever-increasing threats of climate change have encouraged researchers to develop alternative technologies to produce eco-friendly fuels. Green hydrogen generated from the electrolysis of water using renewable electricity is considered a next-generation renewable energy source for the future. But in reality, the overwhelming…

Author of the article: OKAYAMA — Toyota Motor Corp said on Saturday it will partner with four other Japanese vehicle makers to explore the viability of alternative green fuels for internal combustion engine cars, including hydrogen and synthetic fuels derived from biomass. The companies, which in addition to Toyota include…

Using the Immersion GRating INfrared Spectrometer (IGRINS) at the Gemini South Observatory on Cerro Pachon, Chile, astronomers have measured carbon-to-hydrogen (C/H) and oxygen-to-hydrogen (O/H) abundance ratios in the atmosphere of the hot-Jupiter exoplanet WASP-77Ab. An artist’s impression of a hot-Jupiter exoplanet. Image credit: Sci-News.com. WASP-77Ab is a tidally-locked gas giant…

Emerson is committed to providing solutions to the challenges faced throughout the entire hydrogen fuel supply chain Emerson has become a member of the UK Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (HFCA), further demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability. In joining the HFCA, Emerson will be at the forefront of hydrogen…

The Mirai remote-controlled car might be a tenth of the size of the real car, but the technology powering it is the same Toyota has been experimenting with hydrogen power for several decades now, and it seems that other companies are starting to see it as a viable alternative to…

Including some grubby ones “WE ARE BUILDING the energy company of the future…like Tesla did,” declares Seifi Ghasemi, chairman of Air Products. Comparing yourself to the electric-car darling may seem Napoleonic for a purveyor of industrial gases. But Mr Ghasemi, who has thought about one gas in particular, hydrogen, for…
